New Collection - Waves and Clouds

In Spring of 2024, a serendipitous meeting of minds and hearts took place between Berlin-based designer and ceramist Stefanie Hering and LA’s own interior designer, César Giraldo. Together, they breathed life into “Waves and Clouds,” a transcendent porcelain collection for Hering Berlin, the epitome of luxury tableware.

Cesar Giraldo

César Giraldo’s design journey began in his native Colombia, where he developed an early fascination with color and form, which to date are the foundational elements of his design.

As the Founder and Principal Designer of César Giraldo Design, located in West Hollywood, CA, he oversees a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and hospitality projects both nationally and internationally. His aesthetic vision is a harmonious blend of luxurious, contemporary designs infused with the timeless craftsmanship of the past.

A dance of shared passions

The collection is a dance of shared passions—an ode to impeccable quality, seamless functionality, and design that speaks to the heart. For César, this journey was a return to his roots in Colombia, where every breath, every sound, and every sight was infused with the vibrant energy of nature.

It was there, amidst the sweeping landscapes of his homeland— where the ocean’s waves merge with the sky, and the clouds drift in harmony with the sea, that the seeds of his inspiration were first planted, now blossoming in this exquisite collection.

The serigraphy they created are more than mere decorations; they are invitations. The eyes drift into the undulating waves, finding solace in their rhythmic ebb and flow, while the spirit soars among the clouds, chasing dreams in the boundless sky. Nature, in all its raw and gentle beauty, whispered the essence of this collection. As they wove their ideas together, nature’s pulse became their guiding force—an eternal muse that kept their creativity flowing.

Waves

A new approach to glazing: This collection pioneers a technique where glaze becomes the print medium, framed by pure, unglazed white bisque porcelain. "Waves" is a collaboration between Hering Berlin and designer César Giraldo, launched in 2024, featuring striking depictions of sea waves in deep cobalt blue.

By controlling the pigment distribution through this advanced glazing method, a unique union of two traditional techniques is born. Glaze and white pigments are processed in a multi-layer ceramic silkscreen print. The resulting serigraphy is applied by hand to the high-fired bisque porcelain with a transfer medium and fused in a second firing at up to 1400°C. Due to various chemical reactions and the formation of the raw colorants, each piece of "Waves" is unique.

Clouds

Evaporating clouds on velvety white bisque: "Clouds" is a collaboration between Hering Berlin and designer César Giraldo, launched in 2024, showcasing a romantic and detailed reflection of the sky on porcelain.

The soft decor is created with light blue pigments in a multi-layer ceramic silkscreen print. The resulting serigraphy is applied by hand to the high-fired porcelain with a transfer medium and fused in a second firing at 1400°C. Due to various chemical reactions, each piece of "Clouds" is unique.

The Waves and Clouds collection is robust, durable and easy to clean: traces of use such as cutlery abrasion can be easily polished off the resistant bisque. This makes the collection suitable for the home table and ideal for use in hospitality.

The contrast of soft and deep blues make Waves and Clouds an excellent choice for furnishing a complete dinner service, both by itself or in combination with our pure bisque porcelain collection Velvet. Likewise, Waves is suitable as a colorful complement to our Blue Silent, Ocean or other bisque collections.
